Young Enterprise UK

Young Enterprise is a national charity specialising in Enterprise and Financial Education. Since 1962 we have worked with both the education and business sectors to engage over four million young people. We believe passionately in the power of ‘applied learning’ and the difference that it has made and continues to make to the lives, futures and ambitions of young people.

We work directly with young people, teachers, parents, businesses and influencers to help build a successful and sustainable future for young people. Through our hands-on employability, enterprise and financial education programmes, resources and teacher training, we aim to reduce youth unemployment, help young people realise their potential beyond education and empower a generation to learn, to work and to live.

We involve thousands of volunteers across England and Wales each year, supporting a diverse range of enterprise and financial education experiences to young people in schools, universities and in communities.

Mentoring opportunities for ABM members

Our Business Volunteers are volunteer Business Mentors, inspiring and supporting young people to set up and run a real business through our Company Programme. This highly impactful and hands-on role involves mentoring and encouraging students to face the challenges of running a business, and the inevitable setbacks this entails, in a safe space to apply their learning to the real work. Young people run a real business, and need volunteers with patience, creativity and open minds to apply their professional mentoring expertise to this very different, but incredibly rewarding, group of business owners.

Join the Local Volunteer Team

If the regular commitment of Business Volunteering is not quite for you, we have many other impactful volunteer roles that help build a better future for young people. Our Day Programme (Class Mentor) Volunteers support young people to develop their financial and enterprise skills within our one-day school-based programmes, facilitating groups of young people across varied age groups to undertake pre-designed tasks and share their own experiences to help bring the activities to life.

Our Local Volunteer Team Members play a key role to help us provide localised support for young people to get the very best they can from their Young Enterprise experience. They help us to extend our reach and impact for young people within local communities across England and Wales. We are also looking for Speakers for events, and Judges for our competitions, so there really is something for everyone.

Becoming a Young Enterprise volunteer will challenge and reward you. The excitement and satisfaction of mentoring, of transforming attitudes and helping young people open their eyes to the world of enterprise keeps many of our volunteers coming back year after year.
