The Association of Business Mentors (ABM) champions professional business mentoring – Q1 2024 impact report

At the ABM, our mission is to empower businesses and individuals through mentorship. Fostering growth, innovation, and success in the business community. We stand for the professionalisation and integrity of business mentoring, and as the UK's professional body for business mentoring, champion the role and value that professional mentoring brings to the business community.

One of our main goals is to establish best practice and professional excellence for business mentoring, by shaping and setting professional standards that meet both immediate and future needs. To do this, we continually learn, improve and innovate, supporting our members as they deliver mentoring excellence for the benefits of businesses of all shapes and sizes. We also champion the impact of professional business mentoring, ensuring that business mentoring is recognised as a vital part of the business support landscape by business leaders, political leaders and policy decision makers.

It’s been a busy start to 2024, with some of our achievements and highlights outlined below.

Q1 achievements and highlights

  1. Raising our members’ public profile: In Q1 2024, our website welcomed over 21,000 visitors, with the 'Find A Mentor Directory' emerging as one of the most popular pages This demonstrates the growing interest in mentorship and the impact of our platform in connecting mentors with mentees.
  2. Gain commercial mentoring opportunities: We are committed to creating opportunities for our members. In Q1, we provided monthly commercial opportunities exclusively to our full members, enabling them to expand their networks and enhance their mentoring practices.
  3. The voice of business mentoring: Our social media presence continues to grow. Through platforms like LinkedIn, we amplify the voice of business mentoring, sharing insights, success stories, and valuable resources.
  4. Learning & development: Last month we launched our new member resource area. We will be adding new resources on an ongoing basis.
  5. Building our mentoring network: Being part of a large business mentoring community is a cornerstone of our membership. Through our national LinkedIn group and regional LinkedIn groups, mentors have the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and learn from their peers.
  6. ABM events: We hosted a total of 16 events covering diverse topics including growing your own mentoring business and mentoring through the menopause as well as in-person networking events across the UK. These events provide valuable learning opportunities and foster meaningful connections within the business community.

We are also continuing to be a proud delivery partner of the Government's Help to Grow: Management Course programme. Additionally, in Q1 we were also pleased to welcome our new Chair, Ken Andrew, as well as our new Chief Ambassador, ABM Founder Kerrie Dorman to the ABM to support the next phase of our growth and development.

The ABM remains committed to its mission of empowering both business mentors and business alike. We look forward to continuing our journey, creating impact, and driving growth in the business landscape. Please find a summary of our Impact report below and find out more about our membership here.
