Helping people get over the finish line has been part of my working life for almost half of my 40-year career in the multinational corporate sector. The limelight doesn’t appeal much to me – I get a deeper satisfaction from supporting other people on the way to achieving their goals.
In 2021, when the opportunity to switch to doing what I enjoy most came my way, I began formalising my coaching skills. I spent 16 months gaining the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 7 Diploma in Executive Coaching and Mentoring. I’m now a Fellow of the Association for Business Mentors and a Member of the Association for Coaching.
I’m curious by nature, interested in how things and people work. I’m not quick to jump in with my ideas; I want to listen to what you say and think about that first. I won’t TELL you what to do; instead, I’ll help unlock what YOU already know, guiding you to meaningful insights into the business challenges you face. I ask questions for one of two reasons: because I want to know the answer or because I want to know if YOU know the answer.
The thing that gives me most joy is when a client has one of those ‘aha’ moments. Those are the moments when change begins, as they start to see things differently. Maybe a client has come to a session with limiting beliefs about what they can and can’t do; when gently challenged, they suddenly see that they’ve imposed these beliefs on themselves – they’re not real. These insights don’t happen with every session – but they do come regularly.
