In this ABM Skills Sharing Session, we focused on the fifth element of ABM Core Competency 2.5: Concluding and Evaluating a Relationship. The session was led by ABM Fellow Andy Hickman and offered practical guidance on how to confidently and constructively bring mentoring relationships to a close.
During the session, we explored:
– Key indicators that a mentoring relationship may have reached its natural conclusion
– Strategies for holding a positive and constructive closing conversation
– How to review mentoring goals, assess progress, and agree on appropriate next steps for the mentee
This was also a fantastic opportunity for ABM members to share their own experiences and discuss different approaches to managing mentoring conclusions effectively.
