Level 7 Coaching and Mentoring (Business)

This match-funded opportunity is for mentors who aspire to have a significant responsibility for coaching and mentoring as part of their daily role either within an organisational context or as a freelance coach and/or mentor.  It would be expected that these individuals can evidence at least a minimum of two years’ experience.

Please note that the match-funded ILM Level 5  programme is currently paused. Whilst you can continue with your application, it is unlikely that we will be offering new cohorts before the 25/26 financial year. If you do complete the application process, we will contact you as and when a course is planned.

Course Details

This ILM training course is provided by experienced, certified, and registered trainers. The programme has been designed to develop those individuals who have the time and commitment to achieve this level of qualification. It is expected that they see their future as professional coaches and mentors and wish to acquire a nationally recognised qualification.

Who is this qualification for?

This ILM7 qualification is designed for experienced, senior businesspeople who already mentor or coach who wish to further develop their expertise and credibility in the fields of Executive or Senior level business mentoring and coaching.

They are also ideal for professional business mentors and coaches seeking to enhance and accredit their experience with an internationally nationally recognised qualification at Master’s Level.

Key Course Learnings

  • To be able to implement coaching and mentoring initiatives in complex working environments at an executive or Business owner level.
  • To be able to plan, deliver and review effective coaching and mentoring programmes at strategic level.
  • To be able to analyse the knowledge, skills, behaviours, practices and processes necessary for effective coaching and mentoring within a strategic and organisational context.
  • To be able to plan own future development activities to improve performance

Total hours of commitment:

This is estimate of the total amount of time that could reasonably be expected for an individual to achieve and demonstrate the level of competence necessary for this qualification at ILM level 7.

Guided Learning: 52 hours

  • Eight half-day workshops run monthly
  • 1-2-1 sessions with a tutor to meet mentees needs

Required Experience Significant previous experience as a professional mentor or coach
Eligibility
  • A clear understanding of the value and benefits of mentoring and coaching
  • A degree or professional qualification perhaps in another discipline
  • A desire to learn more of the skills and techniques associated with the role with the ability to reflect, challenge oneself, be challenged by others and self-develop to improve
  • For professional mentors who have more than 5 years’ experience or 200 hours mentoring at a senior level
Workshop Training Eight half-days + 4 hours group supervision
Assessment 3 x 8000 word assignments + 20hrs practical mentoring (evidenced)

Further training opportunities

Volunteer mentors on the Help to Grow: Management Course are able to apply for a match-funded place on ILM 5 or ILM 7 training courses. This offers a subsidised path for volunteer mentors to access a high-level qualification to support their Business Mentoring.
