Kotter’s 8-Step Change Model provides a structured approach for leading organisational change and embedding new ways of working.
Developed by Professor John Kotter, the model takes leaders through eight stages, from creating urgency and building support to generating early successes and making change part of the organisation’s culture.
When should I use it with a mentoring client?
Kotter’s model can be helpful when a client is:
- Planning a major organisational change that requires a clear implementation process.
- Struggling to build support among employees, leaders or other stakeholders.
- Introducing new systems or technology that will change established ways of working.
- Trying to sustain change after the initial launch or implementation period.
