Master Executive-Level Business Mentoring
This match-funded opportunity is aimed at mentors who have, or aspire to have, significant responsibility for coaching and mentoring as part of their daily role – whether within an organisational setting or as a freelance coach or mentor. Applicants are expected to evidence a minimum of two years’ relevant experience.
Mentors volunteering with the Help to Grow: Management Programme may be eligible for ILM Level 5 or Level 7 matched funding. Matched funding is not guaranteed and is subject to availability, eligibility checks, and the continuation of the Help to Grow: Management Programme overall.
This advanced qualification moves beyond foundational mentoring skills to develop your capacity for critical analysis, strategic insight and systemic impact when working with senior business leaders.
Successful completion of this ABM programme provides a pathway to achieve the ILM Level 7 Certificate for Executive and Senior Level Coaches and Mentors – positioning you at the forefront of business mentoring practice, capable of operating with confidence at the highest levels of business and creating measurable impact across organisations.

Course Details
This ILM training course is provided by experienced, certified, and registered trainers. The programme has been designed to develop those individuals who have the time and commitment to achieve this level of qualification. It is expected that they see their future as professional coaches and mentors and wish to acquire a nationally recognised qualification.
Who is this qualification for?
This ILM 7 qualification is designed for experienced, senior businesspeople who already mentor or coach who wish to further develop their expertise and credibility in the fields of Executive or Senior level business mentoring and coaching.
They are also ideal for professional business mentors and coaches seeking to enhance and accredit their experience with an internationally nationally recognised qualification at Master’s Level.
Through this comprehensive programme, you'll:
- Critically evaluate and adapt mentoring models to executive contexts
- Master complex 3-way and 4-way contracting with stakeholders and sponsors
- Complete a minimum of 20 hours mentoring with senior business leaders
- Integrate advanced supervision frameworks including the Seven-Eyed Model
- Develop sophisticated evaluation methods using Kirkpatrick and ROI frameworks
- Create strategic CPD plans aligned with executive-level mentoring practice
You’ll also benefit from access to ILM's study membership and resources.
For ABM Volunteer members undertaking the course, once payment is complete, you’ll receive 12 months of free ABM membership at Affiliate or Member level. Those who go on to successfully complete the ABM ILM Level 7 will qualify to become an ABM Fellow.
Total hours of commitment:
This is estimate of the total amount of time that could reasonably be expected for an individual to achieve and demonstrate the level of competence necessary for this qualification at ILM level 7.
Guided Learning: 52 hours
- Eight half-day workshops run monthly
- 1-2-1 sessions with a tutor to meet mentees needs

Further training opportunities
Volunteer mentors on the Help to Grow: Management Course are able to apply for a match-funded place on ILM 5 or ILM 7 training courses. This offers a subsidised path for volunteer mentors to access a high-level qualification to support their Business Mentoring.
ABM Membership at No Extra Cost
When you begin your ILM Level 7 programme, you will receive 12 months of complimentary ABM membership at either Affiliate or Member level, depending on your experience.
